How to deliver files for mixing
- Include the key and BPM.
- Export in your session format (usually 44.1 kHz / 24-bit). No dithering or conversion.
- Stereo sources in stereo, mono sources in mono.
- Name files clearly: Kick, Snare, HiHat – not Audio 1, Audio 2.
- One track per instrument or vocal. Comp parts together instead of splitting them by section.
- Instruments processed, vocals tuned but dry. Include FX as send/return tracks.
- Remove all unwanted noises, breaths, clicks and other artefacts before exporting.
- Keep filter automation and volume levels, with no clipping.
- Check your exports for missing or broken files before sending.
- Add your latest rough mix, a couple of reference tracks and a few notes on the sound you want.
